WINE & WOODBLOCK WORKSHOP: JAPANESE ART
Love wine and Japanese art? Enjoy some haze-free fun with our Wine & Woodblock Workshop! A perfect way to spend a creative Friday evening with friends!
Experience making your own Japanese woodblock prints right here in Singapore. Japan-trained artist Jennifer Lim leads a hands-on workshop where you will come away with finished work perfect for giving away or displaying in your home. No experience is necessary and all materials are provided.
Create multiple colour prints without the hefty carving by using pre-carved blocks inspired by Peranakan culture. Make a set of prints on professional grade washi paper just like 400 years ago! Frames to match prints will also be available.
The workshop will also demonstrate traditional techniques used in this age-old craft including image transfer and carving. Water-based and non-toxic, Japanese woodblock printing is great for creating unique prints at home. This fascinating art form is best known in Ukiyoe prints famous for their images of sumo wrestlers, fashionable geisha and scenic spots in 19th century Japan.
